Avanzar Consulting is a multidisciplinary, professional services consultancy firm, focusing on the disciplines of Civil and Transport Engineering and Resource Management Planning.
Based in Canterbury, with offices in Christchurch and Timaru, we carry out work for a range of private clients, including both large clients and first time developers who may be unfamiliar with the process, as well as local authority and government departments in New Zealand and the Pacific.

Antoni Facey
Antoni is a Civil, Traffic and Transport Engineer with some 34 years of experience providing traffic and transportation expertise to private, corporate and government clients throughout New Zealand, Australia and in the Pacific. He is able to prepare innovative design solutions for both large and small transport infrastructure projects.
He is an expert in road safety analysis and audits of transport infrastructure and carries out crash and benefit cost analysis using full and simplified PEM methods. He is available to provide temporary traffic management auditing, intersection analysis and design, speed limit assessment, design and maintenance strategies. He is experienced at managing successful projects of many types.
He is also an expert in traffic effects assessments, intersection modelling for land use applications, subdivision applications and plan changes, and is available to act as an expert witness.

Mary Clay
Mary is our Principle Planner, with 23 years of experience, 10 of which have been at Avanzar Consulting. She has worked at City Councils and multidisciplinary consultancies in the past, both overseas and in New Zealand.
She has extensive experience in the resource management planning field, and an indepth knowledge of the complexities of land developement. She enjoys giving sound and sensible advice to her clients to support their developement requirements. Her scientific background and excellent communication skills ensure that your project will receive honest, direct and accurate planning inputs.
Outside of work, Mary embraces many forms of art & craft, with woodturning taking up much of her free time at present. She also directs her planning skills into the planning of overseas trips and loves exploring remote and interesting arears across the globe with her husband and young children.
Jen Orange
Jen Orange is a Senior Planner with over 10 years’ experience in Resource Management and Environmental Planning. She is skilled in providing planning advice and preparing assessments of environmental effects and resource consent applications, submissions and evidence for hearings. Jen has experience working in multidisciplinary teams on projects across a range of sectors and scales including subdivisions, residential, commercial, industrial, transport, education and recreation developments.
Jen also has strong skills in strategic research and environmental analysis, having worked in strategic planning for the Singapore government’s Urban Redevelopment Authority, and as an environmental planner for local government and sustainability consultant in Melbourne, Australia.
Tanmayi Pagadala
Tanmayi is a planner with an academic background in ecology and environmental management. She has 1+ years’ experience in both urban and environmental planning. She is experienced in preparing resource consent applications and preparing assessments of environmental effects.
Tanmayi has strong skills in report writing, identifying environmental concerns, and environmental analysis. Her customer/client driven focus and excellent communication skills make her a valuable addition to any team. Tanmayi is also an experienced freelance photographer specializing in portrait photography.

Laura Gilmour
Laura came to Avanzar Consulting with experience in office management and administration. She now enjoys utilising her skills in logic and reasoning through working within the planning team as a planning assistant. She is particularly adept at identifying and applying District Plan rules to complex resource management situations, and has enjoyed putting her skills to use in both the preparation of applications and the processing of consents for local Councils. Her attention to detail ensures that her input is a valuable addition to any project.
Julia Page
Julia is responsible for administration and office management in our Christchurch office. Among other things, she expertly manages the company quality assurance processes, client and account details, and implements our marketing strategy. Julia is always highly prepared, organised and efficient, and consistently finds innovative solutions to our small business needs.
Away from work, Julia is a busy mum of 2, having recently returned to Avanzar Consulting from maternity leave.
